Description | Shadwell Underground station, Metropolitan line. Exterior view of station booking office building, standing adjacent to rail viaduct. Station opened by the East London Railway on 10 April 1876. East London signage visible on the station and viaduct. Metropolitan and District line traffic began operation on 1 Oct 1884, services were suspended in 1905 and 1906 respectively. The line was reopened for Metropolitan line traffic on 31 March 1913. A drapers shop, G Shelstone, occupies the corner site adjacent to the station building. |
