    Vera Willoughby studied at the Slade School of Fine Art under Legros.

    Initially a water-colour artist, she became a successful book illustrator in the late 1920s, and also worked as a commercial and costume designer. She designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport from 1928 to 1935.
