    Robert Thomas Way was born at 13 Wellington Street, London. He was the son of Thomas Way, a leading lithographic printer. He attended the South Kensington Art Schools (afterwards the Royal College of Art).

    Throughout his life he continued to develop the lithographic business started by his father. Way exhibited landscape paintings and lithographs in London from 1883, chiefly at the Royal Academy. He drew nearly 200 lithographs of London and other towns, many being published as postcards.

    He lived in London.
