Biography
Attribute Value Biography Betty Swanwick was born in London, the daughter of a marine artist. She studied at Goldsmith's College of Art under Clive Gardiner and Edward Bawden, the Royal College of Art, and the Central School of Arts and Crafts.
From 1948-1969 she was a tutor at Goldsmith's College. She worked as a book illustrator, painter, designer for Shell-Mex, BP and the Central Office of Information and murals for Great Ormond Street Children's hospital and the Festival of Britain. She illustratd her own novels and necame an RA in 1979.
