    Andre Edouard Marty was born in Paris where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and worked as an illustrator, engraver and theatre designer.

    He is well known for his fashion plates produced for magazines such as "Femina" and "Vogue". Marty designed posters for the Ballets Russes at the Paris Opera in 1910, the Underground Group in 1931, and London Transport in 1933. He also designed sets and costumes for the theatre, cinema and ballet in the 1930s. In later years, Marty moved to design fashion enamel vases, plates and jewellery.
