  Biography	Born in Souris, Manitoba, Canada, he was sent to Europe as a six year old child and studied at the Cardiff School of Art from the age of thirteen, before winning a scholarship to the Allan-Frazer Art College, Arbroath (1906-10). in 1910 he attended evening classes at the City and Guilds School. He returned to Canada and began a career as a commercial artist in Montreal, before serving in the army during World War One. Settling in London in 1922, he received the first of many poster commissions from London Underground, becoming one of England's top poster designers. The first Principal of the Reimann School of Commercial and Industrial Art (1936-40), he turned from his career as a poster artist in 1943 to become a full-time painter and had his first one-man show in 1948 at the London Gallery. From 1955 he exhibited at Gimpel Fils. Examples of his work are held by the Tate Gallery.
