Description
This geographic paper edition of the Underground map shows the Railway lines belonging to the Underground Group as well as the Central London Railway and Metropolitan Railway lines. Each line is represented by a different colour, other railways are marked with lighter black lines, London United tramways are shown by lines of crosses and other tramways routes are marked with a broken line. General geographic features such as roads and parks are also included. The map does not show any lines under construction and lines which are served by two railways use the colours of both lines. Several Stations have name changes, Gower Street is renamed Euston Square and Bishopsgate is now Liverpool Street. Earl's Court Exhibition Ground is marked on this map as well as the Exhibition Ground at Shepherd's Bush, Wood Lane Station has the suffix 'Exhibition Stn.'. The map has a green border with the title London UndergrounD Railways and around the map are various adverts. The reverse is printed in brown and lists theatres, places of interest, music halls, railway termini and adverts for the Partington Advertising Co, The National Building Society and Hudson Brothers. This map was published and printed by Partington who were the sole advertising agents for the Metropolitan District Railway, GNP&B, BS&W and London Central Motor Omnibuses. The logo on the front cover was designed by W J Pawsey.
