Description | This pencil drawing shows the front of a London General Omnibus Company bus with a series of joke adverts and destinations on display. The bus driver is believed to be Lord Ashfield, the General Manager of the Underground group. The drawing is possibly a design for a social event programme, perhaps the L.G.O.C.'s Christmas party. Hotel Cecil, the party venue, is mentioned. The hotel on the Strand was at the time one of the biggest in Europe. The advert on the left refers to Chiswick Works, the L.G.O.C. main overhaul works. |
