Hungarian Culture centre (HCC) 10th Anniversary Celebration


From November 5th - 8th 2009 the HCC celebrates its first decade of cultural activities in Covent Garden, London - for a full programme of events pick up a leaflet at the LT Museum reception or visit the Hungarian Culture Centre website: http://www.hungary.org.uk/

For the celebration we have a Hungarian transport artwork exhibition, 1960's and 1970's archive footage screen filmings, a discussion on city development, a jazz concert  and 'build your own bus' family fun!

Exhibition of Hungarian retro transport posters of the '50s and '60s

Time: all day, free and no booking required - just drop in!



Family Fun - Education Room in the Museum Gallery

Venue: Education room
Date: Sat 7th November 2009
Times: 3 x 1 hour drop in sessions: 11.30 - 12.30 / 13.00 - 14.00 and 14.15 - 15.15

Free drop in sessions: build your own bus and design a poster competition.
Family event with activities for children of all ages.



Film Screenings in the Cubic Theatre

Budapest Retro by Gábor Zsigmond Papp: 1960's and 1970's archive footage, newsreels, commercials, propaganda about every day life across the 2 decades: 12.00 - 13.20
I love Budapest by Agnes Incze, a modern and stylish European film set to a fast paced pounding rock'n'roll rhythm: 13.30 - 15.00

These are free drop in film sessions.



City Development Discussion

Venue: Cubic Theatre
Date: Saturday 7th November
Time: 15.30pm - 17.00

City development and European City of Culture - Discussion with the attendance of representatives of Glasgow, Liverpool and Pécs. Moderated by Edwin Heathcote.

This is a free drop in session.



Lorinc Barabás Jazz Concert

Venue: Cubic Theatre
Date: Saturday 7th November 2009
Time: 19.30 - 21.00 (concert starts at 20.00)

Join us for a wonderful exploration into Jazz with Lorinc Barabás and his friends. Despite his modest years, trumpeter Lorinc Barabás had already worked with an enormous number of top players from the contemporary music scene of his homeland.

This new show will combine well-tried formulas with local specialties, mixing up electro and minimal with jazz-funk, improvisation, and the good groove that's sure to get you on your feet!
