1938 Tube Stock Tour
Date: Sunday 19 June 2011
Treat your father, take a trip down memory lane and have fun with your family this Father’s Day. Continuing with the Heritage Vehicles on the move 2011 programme London Transport Museum will run its 1938 Tube train along the western end of the Piccadilly line.
The day will be full of firsts and rare opportunities. Leaving Northfields on the Piccadilly line the train travels to High Street Kensington via Earl’s Court where you will experience an unusual cross over from the Piccadilly line to the District line - a manoeuvre not usually available to the general public. From here you will travel back down the District line changing onto the Piccadilly line at Acton Town.
The highlight of the day is when the 1938 Tube train will run from Hatton Cross taking a left turn down to Heathrow Terminal 4 where it will then carry on to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and Terminal 5, this is known as the 'Fish Hook Move'.
The journey will last approximately 2 hours.* Timetable 19.10 Kb

NOTICE added 12/07/11: On Sunday 19 June, London Transport Museum ran its 1938 Tube train in conjunction with London Underground. Three journeys ran from Northfields to Heathrow terminals 123, 4 and 5 via High Street Kensington, running on both the Piccadilly and District lines. During these journeys the Piccadilly line team raised money on behalf of the Fragile X Society www.fragilex.org.uk selling limited edition t-shirts that were designed specially for the day and organised a raffle to win a model of the 1938 Tube train. The team raised £811.51 for the charity.
