Children can enjoy free river themed make-and-take workshops and storytelling during the Whitsun bank holiday. Make flags, construct fans and join in storytelling sessions that explore the depths of your imagination.

Admission to the Museum and family activities are free to accompanied children under 16. Adults are charged £13.50 (£10.00 concessions) and tickets allow unlimited admission for 12 months.
The events are organised as part of the Museum’s The River Thames exhibition, which features 50 of the best of the entries in The Serco Prize for Illustration 2011competition.
Story telling: River Quest
Monday 30 May, Wednesday 1 June, Friday 3 June (11.00) and Tuesday 31 May, Thursday 2 June (15.30)
Meet imaginary characters and creatures who call the River Thames their home. Talking boats, fishy fishes, sailors and frogs are brought alive as children join the quest to keep the story flowing. Suitable for under 5s

Workshop: Fantastic Flags and Fluttering Fans

Taking inspiration from our River Thames Illustration exhibition and using images from the Museum’s collections, make flags, bunting and fans to take home. Suitable for age 5+.

Children’s Masterclass: Illustration Workshop
Tuesday 31 May and Thursday 2 June, 10.30-12.30
Join one of the artists, whose work is currently on display in The River Thames exhibition to discover what makes an effective illustration and learn the techniques to create an award winning image as you create your own illustration to take home. Suitable for ages 8 to 14+ (each child can be accompanied by one adult who holds a valid annual Museum ticket)
