The Mayors New Bus for London Events

Celebrate the Mayor’s New Bus for London which has been inspired by the old iconic Routemaster. Modern, fully accessible, using the latest green technology the static mock-up is on show at London Transport Museum for families to enjoy over Easter. Families can join the Museum’s free fun workshops which include story-telling for our littlest visitors.

Admission to the Museum and family activities are free to accompanied children under 16. Adults are charged £13.50 (£10.00 concessions) and tickets allow unlimited admission to the Museum for 12 months. For more information on admission please refer to opening times and tickets.
Workshop: Fantasy journeys
Dates: 11-15 April and 18-22 April
Time: 12:00 – 13:30
New bus, new journey; create a fantasy journey for the New Bus for London (NBfL). Using a giant map, choose where you would like the new bus to go and what you will see along the route. Bring your personal journeys alive and be inspired by the NBfL and famous London landmarks. Families can build bus shelters, iconic structures and buildings, - even Granny’s house - out of everyday objects.

Workshop: New bus, new look
Dates: 11-15 April 2011 and 18-22 April
Time: 14:00 – 15:30
Design a new staff uniform for the driver and second crewmember of the NBfL. Sort through London Transport uniforms from the Museum’s collection and try on caps, ties and badges for inspiration. Then style your own London look to take home.

Magic Bus story-time
Dates: Tuesday 12 and 19 April and Thursday 14 and 21 April
Time: 11.00 and 16.00
Little visitors can take in the sights of London during the Magic Bus story-time using the Museum’s famous poster collection. In their imaginations, they will visit the Zoo, the Park, Buckingham Place and Trafalgar Square.

New Story, New Bus
Dates: Saturday 16 and 23 April 2011
Times: 12:00-13:00 & 14.00-15.00 (Storytelling workshops)
Help tell a new story for a new bus. Imaginations can run riot with our resident storyteller to make a unique and exciting story about the adventures of the New Bus for London. Sing, hear and see the sights of London in this interactive lyrical trip and create a story book to take home to read again and again.
Suitable for under 5s
The New Bus for London Easter family fun activities will take place on the ground floor gallery, London Transport Museum, Covent Garden Piazza. Please note that the static mock-up of the bus will be available for all to view from the outside, no visitors will be allowed to go on board the bus.
