Opening times
By appointment, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00-17:00; Friday 11:00-17:00. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
Library admission
There is no charge for admission, but the Library is small and can only accommodate two visitors at a time, so appointments are essential. Please ring at least one week in advance to find out availability and discuss the nature of your research with Library staff.

Access
Visitors to the Library need to use the Museum's Reception entrance at 39 Wellington Street find us. The Library is on the first floor at the top of a curved flight of stairs. Step-free access to the Library is available using the lift in the main Museum and then platform lift to the Library. A magnifier and induction loop are available for visitor use. Please let us know when booking your appointment if you have any special requirements so we can make suitable arrangements for your visit.
Essential information for visitors
- Bring with you formal photo identification (passport, student card, employee ID, driving licence) and proof of address (recent utility bill, bank statement)
- Only pencils may be used for taking notes
- Laptops may be used
- Photography is not permitted without authorisation
Copying
The Library is not licensed for commercial copying and we do not have a photocopier. Where copying, for non-commercial purposes only, is permitted by the librarian you may use a digital camera. All copies are subject to completion of a copyright declaration form and must comply with copying restrictions.
The purpose of your research dictates what you can copy, so if you are unsure about the status of any copying you may wish to do, please consult the Intellectual Property Office website for advice before your visit.
