Family Activities in 2013
Help us celebrate 150 years of the London Underground with a series of activities for families during the school holidays. Join us for Storytime sessions which tell the most exciting moments of the Undergrounds’ history and stay afterwards to ‘Make and Take’ using a range of materials to make something special to remember your visit.
Entrance to the Museum is free for children under 16. Adult admission is £15.00 (£11.50 concessions) and tickets allow unlimited entry for a whole year.

POSTER PEOPLE
Storytime
Time: 11.00 and 14.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 3 to 7 years
Hear the stories of the Poster People – a shopping excursion, the stop that was missed and an adventure on the escalator
Make and Take
Time: 11.30 and 14.30
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 4 to 12 years
Create your own Poster Person and bring it to life. Make it walk, dance, clap or wave and use it to tell your own stories.
Summer Holidays
STEAMY SCIENCE
Demonstration
Dates: Sundays: 4,11,18,25 August and Mondays: 5,12,19,26 August
Time: 11.30, 14.00, 15.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 6 - 12 years
Discover the challenges of keeping London Moving. Become a horse and drag a bus over the bumpy cobblestones, see how far the power of steam can fire a doll and discover the joys of electricity.
TACKLING TUNNELS
Storytime
Dates: Tuesday – Saturday: 30 July–3 August, 13–17 August, 27–31 August
Time: 11.00 and 14.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 3 to 7 years
Hear the tales of William as he works on the first ever Underground railway tunnels in the world. Discover the dangers of digging deep and how the first tunnels were built.
Get Messy
Dates: Tuesday – Saturday: 30 July–3 August, 13–17 August, 27–31 August
Time: 11.30 and 14.30
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 4 to 12 years
Take on the tunnel challenge. How big a tunnel can you build? Dig or build into our sandpit, with the help of sticks, picks and spades and see who can build the biggest, strongest tunnel.
DOWN WITH IT
Make and Take
Dates: Tuesday – Saturday: 6–10 August, 20–24 August
Time: 11.00 and 14.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 4 to 12 years
Invent your own character and take it up and down a lift or escalator to underground London using paper mechanics and a bundle of imagination.
Singalong
Dates: Tuesday – Saturday: 6–10 August, 20–24 August
Time: 12.00 and 15.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 3 to 10 years
Bring your animated character and join Alfie the Alligator for a singalong through the different ways to get up and down to the underground.
October Half Term
Dates: Monday 28 October – Sunday 3 November
PUPPETS AND PEOPLE
Storytime
Time: 11.00 and 14.00
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 3 to 7 years
Told through puppets, the ordinary and famous people who made the underground move reveal their stories.
Make and Take
Time: 11.30 and 14.30
Open to all families but most suitable for those with children aged 4 to 12 years
Use felt collage to create finger puppets of London Transport’s most important people.

Tickets Please Sessions
Date: Monday 1 April - Friday 12 April 2013 (weekdays only)
Time: 11:00 - 16:00
These sessions give families the opportunity to handle objects from the Museum’s bus and uniform collections. Highlights include a Gibson ticket machine, bell punch and souvenir ticket to take home.

Free Family Activity Book
London Transport Museum have launched a new, FREE family 12 page activity book 'Time Travelling moustaches and other great ways to explore London Transport Museum: a manual for inquisitive minds'. Incredibly this book contains; a time travelling device, a horse, 16 passengers from the world’s underground railway, a house, a poster design studio and an art class!
Aimed at children aged between 5 and 10 years, the book has been produced to enhance young people and their families’ enjoyment and experience of the Museum through activities, games and the ancient art of origami.
The book has been funded by the Luke Rees-Pulley Charitable Trust which was established in 2006 to promote safe and responsible travel in London and to inform young people about the importance of public transport.

Chinese Memories Family Trail
There are lots of objects and exhibits in London Transport Museum that relate to Chinese people. Download this trail to discover mystery objects and to find out the stories and traditions of Chinese people from around the world.

Golders Green Walk and Activity Sheets
Golders Green residents have worked with the Museum to create three walks highlighting the area's unique identity and celebrating its diversity. From Heath secrets to Japanese restaurants the different routes will allow you to explore the suburb and find out what it means to the people that live there. Download a copy of the map and try it today.
Children can also enjoy these fun activity sheets while they are on the walk.
