Adult learning

We run a lively programme of talks, walking tours and workshops for adults alongside our exhibition programme and inspired by our collections. Find out what’s coming up in the What’s on events calendar. Book early – many events are very popular and can sell out quickly.

You can enjoy one of our Friday Late events, which include the best of our adult learning programme mixed with music and a licensed bar.

You can also make an appointment to visit our library to do independent research. Library staff can help with answering questions you might have about the past, present or future development of London’s transport.

Adult learning: Museum Depot

The Museum Depot at Acton holds the majority of our collections, and is a working store with over 6000 square metres of storage. If the Museum in Covent Garden is the tip of the iceberg for our collections, then the Depot is the iceberg itself!

The Depot opens to the public for monthly guided tours and themed open weekends.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

London Transport Museum worked with ESOL tutors from City and Islington College to develop a range of online resources. They have been designed to aid tutors on an independent visit to the Museum and engage them in the rich and varied collection which tells the story of transport in London over the last 200 years. These worksheets have been developed with the help of students from City and Islington College.

There are 5 levels available: Entry level 1, 2 and 3 as well as Levels 1 and 2. Each level has pre-visit, during-visit and post-visit teacher's notes and student handouts.
