Volunteering

Get involved in a wide range of activities at London Transport Museum. There are a number of rewarding ways in which individual members of the Friends can volunteer some of their spare time to help the Museum. You can:

Become a guide

The Friends provide a team of guides who help visitors by explaining and interpreting the Museum's collections. The guides also act as stewards on open weekends at the Museum Depot in Acton and at other special events. Training is given for both of these roles.

Work behind the scenes

There are also many jobs behind the scenes which Friends can help with. You might assist with conservation work on collections such as photographs, posters or plans and drawings. Volunteers also help in the library, processing books and journals, and maintain records on the Museum's database, including the detailed historical database of London's bus routes. Other volunteers help to record objects in the collections by scanning images.

Whatever your skills or experience, contact the Friends to see how they can be put to use.
