The Friends provided much of the money to pay for the restoration of a 1931 LT class single-deck bus, number LT 1076 (GO 5198). In addition to Friends' funding, a grant was also received from the Science Museum PRISM fund.

The bus operated from Dalston, Leyton and Elmers End garages prior to its withdrawal from service in 1950.The vehicle was later found in use as a summer house near High Wycombe and professionally restored.

It made its debut appearance on the HCVS London - Brighton historic commercial vehicle run in May 2005, and was the outright winner of the National Benzole Trophy in the concours d'elegance, along with three other prestigious class awards.

The "Scooter" is kept - in a road-worthy condition - at the Museum Depot at Acton.
