Most venues offer "two for the price of one" deals, except on special events days. At the Bluebell Railway there is a single concessionary rate. Please note that concessions are no longer available at the East Anglia Transport Museum. These concessions are available to all individual Friends on presentation of their membership cards. It may help to bring a copy of this news item with you.

Membership of the Friends costs £20 a year. There is a reduced rate of £18 a year for Friends aged 60 and over. Family and Life memberships are also available. For full details, please see the membership application form.

Who are the Friends?

The "London Transport Museum Friends" is a separate charity in its own right and is not organisationally part of the Museum. The Friends share a similar purpose with the Museum and exist to support the Museum's collections and objectives. Members of the Friends' management team are almost all unpaid volunteers.

The Friends' Trust Deed requires the Trustees to act "for the advancement of public education in the history of transport and in particular by assisting and encouraging the work and activities of the Museum…".

So what is the Friends' organisational structure?

Trustees

The Trustees of the London Transport Museum Friends are:

Brian Staines: Chairman of the Trustees (and former Chairman of the Friends)
Ian Arthurton: Chairman of the Friends
Colin Hamling: Insurance Executive
Barry LeJeune: Vice Chairman of the Friends
Sam Mullins: Museum Director
Frances Read: Solicitor
Andrew Scott: Director, National Railway Museum
Peter Stephens: former Director of London Transport Museum.

In addition, the following serve the Trustees as officers and also attend meetings:

Chris Angell: Treasurer of the Friends (and of the Trustees)
Ian Crane: Secretary of the Friends (and of the Trustees)
Becky Lee: Minutes Secretary.

Executive Committee

Members of the Executive Committee are:

Ian Arthurton, Chairman
Barry LeJeune, Vice Chairman, with responsibility also for communications issues.
Ian Crane, Secretary to the Friends
Chris Angell, Treasurer
Paul Hopper, responsible for Project Management
Richard Meads, Membership Strategy
John Self, Fund raising.

Museum Director, Sam Mullins, is also a member of the Friends' Executive Committee ""ex officio".
Becky Lee acts as Minutes Secretary.

Operations Committee

The following are members of the Operations Committee:

Barry LeJeune (Friends' Vice Chairman) who chairs this Committee and is also newsletter editor.
Paul Hopper who is responsible for liaison with the Museum over Friends-funded conservation projects (such as restoring the original front-end appearance to RM2)
as well as being the Q-stock project manager.
Graham Page who is concerned with Museum acquisitions funded by the Friends; and sales of material by the Friends, including
the Friends' stall at Acton Depot and e-bay sales. Graham also works closely with Joanne Howe over developing volunteer roles
with the Museum; and he represents the Friends on the Museum's Collections Development Group.
Nick Agnew organises the programme of Friends' meetings and visits.
Pat Tilly is Membership Secretary.
Spencer McManus takes the lead, on behalf of the Friends, in matters relating to heritage train operation. He is also
actively involved in the technical aspects of the Q-stock project.
Richard Moules is the Operations Committee secretary.
Members of the Museum's management team also attend meetings of the Friends' Operations Committee, as appropriate to the agenda items:
